Los Alamos, 2000

In 2000, the town of Los Alamos, NM was threatened by a large forest fire. I had the pleasure of photographing a group of Native American Men and Women that were fighting those fires. These men and women would wake before dawn and fight the fire until dusk. One day, before loading onto the bus to go back to their camp myself and another photographer were given the opportunity to photograph them. I kept thanking them and they kept thanking me because we were apparently breaking up the monotony of their daily routine. My favorite part was being able to give them the Polaroid Type 55 positive print while I kept the negatives. It was truly an honor to spend some time with the individuals.
